Who Is He?

The silence is deafening and waking up her fear. She scanned the place with her eyes not moving her body as if it got numb because of the darkness. Her mind is drifting to a world of malarkey yet a piece of it is pushing her to think of the world she is in. She made a step, a subtle one, not intending to awaken anyone inside.  She’s reaching for the staircase; an old, wide and beautifully carved staircase. While her feet are busy ascending, she heard footsteps coming from the door. Her heart started to throb thinking her captor was able to follow her.   She stood in silence in the middle of the staircase hoping she won’t be discovered. She wanted to hold her breath as long as she could but she doesn’t want to pass out again.

As the footsteps are getting closer to the staircase, her mind came rushing of an idea what to do. A part of her brain is telling her to run away from the footsteps but another part is telling her to keep still and pretend like a lifeless thing.  She noticed the illuminating ring, the same ring she saw from her captor.  She got ready as if starting a race but as soon as she made her first step, two masculine hands hugged her by the waist. She wanted to scream but nothing came out because of fear. She can hear the stranger’s breath but suddenly noticed his breathing is a gentle one. The warmth of his breath pulled her back from the void. She wanted to feel safe but the ring is making her horrified.

She can feel that the man behind her has a lean body figure, broad shoulders and stone-like muscles. She is envisaging this man can pick her up single-handed. She decided to speak but as soon as she opened her mouth, she heard him say, in a guttural voice.

Keep silent.

Short Story: Lost Love

Fly freely
Your messenger beeps! "How are you?" said the person on the other computer screen. The person you least expect to message you suddenly did. You don't know if you will answer or not but much to your surprise, your fingers were already typing the words. "I'm fine, how are you?"

Your conversation deepened and you both reminisce the time you were together. You felt happy but at the same time disappointed for he wants you back. Your instinct tells you not to believe hence you are just riding on to what he's telling you. Then it came to the point when you can no longer hold it and you spoke out, told him what happened and had done after your break-up. You told him everything you felt which you kept to yourself for a very long time. You told him you were ruined when you heard he got a new girlfriend several weeks after your break up. So you asked, how can you say you still love me if you were able to love someone else right after me? He answers, he needs to move on and that girl was available but then you are the one he's longing for.

Who Is He?

She's running fast, really fast she can no longer feel her feet touching the ground.

She went out the library late because she needed to work on her school project. Good thing library hours extends until 8 in the evening. While walking, she felt like someone is following her. She turned around but no one was there. It was dark, the street lights aren't enough to light up the corners of the street. She started to walk fast, her heart beating like a drum and she can feel the coldness of the night. She's five minutes away from the library, she still has five more minutes before reaching her dormitory. However, she needs to make a right turn and right after that, a bridge that's really creepy. Many senior students talk about the mystery of the bridge but she didn't believe any of them. Now, those stories are rushing into her memory it made her stop walking. She's trying to convince herself, she can cross the bridge and will be able to get to the other side in no time. She decided to go on but when she stepped her right foot, she heard a howling sound, it deafened her.  Then someone grab her from behind covering her mouth so she can't scream. She passed out.

She woke up. When she opened her eyes, she's in the woods, she saw a silhouette of a man-like body. Medium built, muscle-toned with black hair. She noticed a ring, illuminating from the dark. The man seems to be waiting for someone. Suddenly, he lit up a cigarette. She can smell it and it seems familiar to her. She decided to get up, her mind was telling her best to untie her. She used her teeth to untie her hands and luckily it worked, and then she untied her feet. Then she started running. But the man heard her and he's catching up on her. She ran a lot faster, as much as she could. In the middle of nowhere, she saw a house, the gate was open and so was the door. She ran inside.

It was totally dark.

A Choice

Solitary Chair

Even the best fall down sometimes. Even the wrong words seem to rhyme.- Collide Howdie day

You are trying to get your sleep in the middle of a quiet night when suddenly your mind drifted to an event of your life you considered the happiest. You suddenly miss him. Tears started to fall while your mind keeps scanning the time you spent together.  You remember all the events and even the words he told you vividly while you were together. You can't forget his scent, his voice and his laughs. You know exactly how he makes you laugh even with just ordinary jokes. His whole being is written in your mind.

Short story: Abandoned

A tree that caught my attention in a heavy traffic

It stood there alone and withering to death.

In a garden of the unknown, there was once a tiny beautiful purple flower. Butterflies seem to like it for most of them never forget to perch onto it. It blossoms pretty well that it attracted one distinct butterfly.  Everyday, the butterfly visits the flower while the latter waits for it patiently. In a short period of time, they shared a lot of things within the vast garden; the butterfly telling stories about the beauty of other gardens and the flower listens amusingly.

One day, the butterfly didn’t come and the flower felt a pang in its whole being.  It was worried something horrible happened to it and it can’t help but cry with the idea.  It was helpless because it doesn’t have the ability to move around and find it.

Short story: Dreaming her Whim

Lights in the dark

Take that shot! Someone demanded!

At an instant, she positioned her camera to where that someone is pointing. While she's trying to figure out which part of the whole scenery he wanted to be taken, she can't avoid her caprice in going down the crater but of course, that's one thing she should be controlling because it will totally destroy the beauty of it. She took some snapshot of it however, her amateurishness cannot warrant was she's actually looking at.

I can't do it, she said, lowering down her lenses. The person beside her was trying to convince she has an eye for details and that she just have to be self-reliant on her skills. The sun is nearly rising yet she hasn't taken something that will make her words flow into writing. The heat will be unbearable and they don't have a choice but to go down once the sun has come out into full view.

She positioned her lenses again and with confidence, she pressed her one last click. The sound of the shutter seemed to be deafening while the light of the sun is so gutsy in blinding her.

This moment is so poignant a thousand words cannot define it, part of her mind was saying. With that thought, she woke up; she was only dreaming.

No Worlds to Go

Photo taken by someone with permission

Life has been so tough for her. Just so when she experience a bit of happiness, there comes a huge disaster in her life. She had tried hard to be a good one even to the point of giving up her own desires yet it wasn't enough. She feels empty as time goes by.

When the day she thinks she found a reason to live longer, all of a sudden it was taken away again from her. Her hopes and dreams were all thrown into the void. She had hoped for nothing and now she's left without any reason to exist. Did she make the wrong choice? She doesn't know.

Life seems to have no purpose and now she doesn't know how to get going. It seems she's starting from scratch yet she still can't find how to. She was made whole by someone but then she was shattered all the more by the same person. How can she pick the pieces up?

She's lost.

Short story: The Shadow

It was 4: 00 am, she woke up from a dream she never expected. Suddenly, the door opened. Without hesitation, she peeped out from the dark and nothing she could see. She rubbed her eyes for a clearer sight but still nothing. She decided to get back in bed, but before she could, she saw a shadow. She felt a chill. She collected her courage and moved forward, leaving the door slightly open.

Who are you?, she said. No answer. The shadow is moving away from her direction, slowly, as if trying to tell her to follow. She followed and they reached the living room. Please tell me who you are, she begged. The shadow turned around to face her and said. You don't really recognize me, do you? She thwarted and said, I would be willing to get to know you more and the reason why you are here. The shadow answered, I have been here ever since you were here, you just kept ignoring me.

The shadow moved closer to her and uttered. You have got to recognize me. Search within you and you will soon realize who I am.  And then, the shadow was gone. She was left stunned trying to surmise something  is going on. But she couldn't come up with a clue.

She tried to forget the scene and went back to her room. And the alarm started to ring. It's time for work, she said.
